Mudita Salus CIC: Mudita Salus CIC celebrates after receiving £19,250 of National Lottery funding to promote mental health and community connection

Local well-being organisation, Mudita Salus CIC, is celebrating after being awarded £19,250 in National Lottery funding to support its new project, Connect 3. Based in Winscombe, North Somerset, the organisation will use the grant to deliver regular nature connection walks in North Somerset, designed to help individuals struggling with mental health challenges and isolation.
The Connect 3 project will provide guided weekly walks featuring grounding meditations, mindfulness exercises, and reflection activities. These walks aim to improve participants’ mental well-being, strengthen community bonds, and foster a deeper connection to nature.
Mudita Salus CIC, established in April 2024, is dedicated to promoting holistic well-being through accessible, community-led programmes. This latest project will run for 18 months and is expected to reach over 200 participants in North Somerset.
Kim, co-founder of Mudita Salus, says:
“We’re thrilled that The National Lottery Community Fund has recognised our work. Thanks to National Lottery players, we can deliver a meaningful project that supports individuals facing mental health struggles and isolation. These walks will give people a chance to connect with themselves, others, and nature, while also equipping them with tools to manage their emotional well-being.”
The grant will also enable Mudita Salus CIC to partner with Naturally Mindful, a nature mindfulness organisation, to ensure high-quality, expert-led sessions. The project will also include reflective tools such as mood tracking and regular feedback to ensure ongoing improvement.
Mudita Salus CIC will use the funding to cover staffing, materials, promotion, and transport costs, ensuring the project is fully accessible to the local community.
The National Lottery Community Fund recently launched its strategy, ‘It starts with community,’ which underlines its commitment to supporting activities that help people live healthier lives and bring communities together. National Lottery players raise over £30 million a week for good causes across the UK.
