A partnership to join nature and health in the West of England
Our lives are part of and dependent on the rest of the natural world.
Nature is essential for our mental and physical health, supporting us to feel a sense of purpose and belonging, reducing stress, enhancing recovery and supporting community.
We are a partnership of organisations in the West of England with a shared vision:
For everyone to have opportunities to engage with nature to stay well and as part of their healthcare, for example through green social prescribing.
For nature to be part of treatment when we need more specialist health care.
For nature to be part of everyone’s daily lives and community.
You can read more in our Nature and Health Strategy (1.3mb PDF).
Healthier with Nature
In 2021, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care System (Healthier Together) was selected as one of seven ‘Test and Learn Sites’ for green social prescribing across England, which has accelerated the integration of nature-based approaches into health and care. You can read more about the programme here.
